Dr. Milica Radisic has been awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Organ-on-a-Chip Engineering in recognition of her prolific and impactful research program.
The Chair will provide $1.4 million over seven years to support Dr. Radisic’s research program.
According to her CRC profile, Dr. Radisic and her team are “developing new materials, 3D printing approaches and injection molding strategies to scale up the production of OOAC systems. Using patient samples, they are developing models and discovering new treatments for a wide range of diseases—from heritable arrhythmia to heart damage due to COVID-19 to kidney rejection. Ultimately, their mission is to deliver on the promise of personalized medicine by developing organ-on-a-chip models of heart disease and kidney failure”.
Dr. Radisic co-leads CRAFT’s Organ-on-a-Chip Research Pillar and is a Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. In addition, she is a Senior Scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute at the University Health Network.
